Iran basically has a very large public sector and 50% of its economy is actually centrally planned. Its economy is diversified and its industries are competitive locally and internationally. But the most common exports of the country are oil and gas. It is one of the world’s major petroleum exporters and benefits a lot from it. If you try to analyze the need of the world for oil and gas, it is massive. A lot of nations depend on oil and gas for power and other things. That is why in terms of providing the world a basic necessity, Iran has always been marked as one of the providers.
